Born in Cebu City, Philippines, Simon is a 1.5-generation immigrant and 2nd-generation college graduate with a degree in Environmental Science and a minor in Environmental Engineering from the University of California, Los Angeles.

While attending UCLA, Simon enjoyed engaging with both the UCLA student community as well as the sustainability and housing faculty. He participated in numerous clubs that involved promoting sustainable initiatives on campus as well as increasing the accessibility of these resources to students.

Simon participated in various action-based research projects, such as understanding and lessening the burdens and barriers associated with understanding waste topics such as composting, recycling, and consumerism. He was also able to lead a group of students through a project aimed to reduce the volume of food waste generated by the university. In his senior year, Simon worked on a project for the Aquarium of the Pacific in Long Beach, CA, to introduce sustainable initiatives within the aquarium’s operations.

When he has free time, Simon sees himself as a passionate gamer, hiker, dog dad, and home cook.
