Ashly hails from The Bahamas, a country of over 700 islands and cays. She plans to utilimately return to contribute to progressive environmental policy that values more than the bottom line. She graduated from Colgate University ('20) with a double major in Environmental Studies and Religion. She received the  the Voice of Conscience award and the Award for Excellence in Environmental Studies.

She is passionate about environmental justice work and has particular interests in renewable energies, land conservation, and the built environment. She was involved in a number of clubs while at Colgate; from expressing her love for music and dance in a hip hop group to engaging in community building with the Caribbean Students Association and Black Student Union. Her background and education has always been interdisciplinary and she hopes to integrate this into her future endeavours. Her summer internship at the Henry's Fork Foundation showed her the impact that nonprofits, no matter the size, can have on the greater community and decision making process. Strong science can lead to more informed policy, but her US Environmental Politics class definitely showed her that the decision making proces is not that straightforward. After learning more about land conservation and policy at POST, Ashly plans to attend graduate school to learn more about climate change policy.
