Rey had the opportunity to work with Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) and various visual-related projects to teach stakeholders about secure fishing rights. From incorporating a human-centered design framework into projects to creating didactic digital visuals that inform and highlight the complexity of fishery management, Rey explored the nuances of communicating marine conservation initiatives through a humanities perspective in a virtual realm. This exploration is exemplified through Rey’s assistance in launching EDF’s Virtual Fishery Academy and supporting the construction of some of EDF’s secure fishing rights tools.

This presentation will share Rey’s experience exploring the intersections of human culture, virtual space, and the ocean, and the takeaways when communicating across dimensions and water.
